Palm Sunday, Bingley, 2016 (3 photos)
Churches in Bingley joined together for a Palm Sunday celebration through the town centre. The drama began in the Five Rise shopping centre together with William the donkey. From there, we walked down Main Street, enacting out the events of the first Palm Sunday waving palms with shouts of hosanna as we made our way to All Saints Parish Church for a service in the churchyard led by the Revd Ruth Dowson.
The pictures, taken by John Mitchell, show some of the principal characters in the drama.
Fikelela project 2016 (2 photos)
David and Susan Markham, who brought the Fikelela project to the notice of the parish through family links in Cape Town, converted the £100 into 2,000 Rands and took it with them when they went on holiday to Cape Town in January. They handed over the donation at St Thomas Church, Rondebosch, one of many parishes in Cape Town, who support Fikelela and later in their holiday helped parishioners from St Thomas’ pack more than 100 food parcels to be given to Aids victims and the families.
Picture shows David and Susan helping with the bag packing.

Fikelela project 2013 (5 photos)
David & Susan Markham's photos from a visit made in 2013. David writes now "During that visit we presented the parish’s gift of £200 – converted into South African Rands - to the Fikelela Project to help victims of Aids. It is a project run throughout the Anglican Diocese of Cape Town. Someone took a picture of us making the presentation to a group at St Thomas’ Church, Rondebosch and we will be making another presentation at St Thomas’ Church later this month (Feb 2014). The lady in charge of the St Thomas’ part of the diocesan project, Jenny Masterton also took us to the Khayelitsha township near Cape Town, where she helped to set up an early years educational and nutritional project. It was a very moving experience to see these under privileged children taking the first steps on the educational ladder and not only being given advice on health and nutrition but being provided with healthy meals during the school day.
The Khayelitsha project is nothing to do with our parish, but it just shows the work that is going on to help the under privileged in South Africa. I hope people will be interested."
