The Parish of Holy Trinity Bingley with St Wilfrid's Gilstead

  • Welcome to our web site

    Sharing the love of God

This simple message sums up the mission of the two church communities which make up the parish of Holy Trinity Bingley with St Wilfrid’s Gilstead in the Diocese of Bradford. Visitors to our churches will find a loving, caring and welcoming community.

    Holy Trinity, BINGLEY
    Sunday morning 9.15am
The worship of our parish is centred on the Eucharist. The main Sunday service at both Holy Trinity and St Wilfrid’s is a Sung Eucharist and there are midweek celebrations at Holy Trinity on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and at St Wilfrid’s on Wednesdays.
The parish also offers a variety of Sunday evening worship, including Evensong and a monthly Taize service at Holy Trinity.
    St Wilfrid's GILSTEAD
    Sunday morning 10.45am
The parish celebrates all the major festivals of the Church, including full Holy Week and Easter ceremonies along with an Easter morning dawn service on Gilstead Moor. We hold carol and other special services at Advent, Christmas, Epiphany and Easter led by the Trinity Singers, a choir made up of members of our two churches and friends from other local choirs. The Trinity Singers also lead the singing on other special occasions.

  • Supporting the wider community

At key times in our lives - occasions of joy, celebration, and sadness - we often turn to the Church, and our parish has gladly supported the local community in being there for such key times for 145 years.

In support of family life, in conjunction with our neighbours at All Saints Bingley, we run a Marriage Course

at Holy Trinity, which is open to those who are preparing for marriage, the newly married, as well as to those who have been married a long time. We conduct baptisms and hold confirmation preparation classes. There is a monthly Toddler Praise service at Holy Trinity (usually 2nd Thursday in term time, 10.45am and 1pm), and a weekly Thursday morning Toddler Group at St Wilfrid's. The Mothers' Union meets monthly at Holy Trinity (usually 2nd Tuesday). Come along and find a warm and engaging welcome.

The parish has close links with the only Church of England school in Bingley, Trinity All Saints Primary School. The children use the church for a school service each Thursday morning in term time, and for other activities during the school week.

Our ministers visit and support the sick at home and in hospital, and make regular visits to local residential homes. Those who are ill or have other special concerns are constantly in our prayers. Our clergy are also there for the bereaved, and special commemoration services are held in November (at Holy Trinity) and in Eastertide (at St Wilfrid's).

At special times of the year the congregation is accompanied by the joyous sound of the Trinity Singers, and if you have not experienced this we would encourage music lovers or the just-plain-curious to attend.  At Easter and over Christmas, the Singers  perform parts of Handel's Messiah, other well known choral works, popular and less often heard carols too. A highlight is the now annual carol singing event at the Fisherman Inn.

We encourage use of our two community meeting hall venues: the hall adjacent to St Wilfrid's, and Holy Trinity Church (which is a very flexible building). These spaces presently accommodate a wide variety of community activities and are also available for individual bookings.

Whether you are new to Bingley, or have been here for a while and have maybe just discovered our website, we encourage you to drop in at one of our regular events where you will find a warm welcome.
